Rayo Vallecano will not allocate visiting tickets at the Estadio de Vallecas for the remainder of the 2024/25 season.
As reported by Onda Cero, the problem stems from a La Liga mandate at the start of the season requiring the club to install a perimeter fence to separate the visiting fan section. That adjustment has yet to be made, resulting in the absence of visiting fans for games against Barcelona, Celta Vigo, Sevilla, and now, all remaining matches this season.
The club had requested support from the Community of Madrid, which owns the stadium, to carry out the necessary work. While the regional government has begun the process, it comes with logistical hurdles. A dedicated restroom must be built for the away section, triggering a formal public bidding process. That process alone is expected to take around six months.
As a result, improvements will not be completed until the 2025–26 season at the earliest. The delays come despite previous work on the stadium. Last summer, €2 million was invested in upgrades, and regional authorities have signalled their continued support for the club to use the facility long-term.
Expansion of the stadium’s capacity is also reportedly under consideration. In the meantime, however, fans of visiting clubs will remain locked out of Vallecas.
