Manchester United’s hunt for a midfield partner for Bruno Fernandes has reportedly led them to Spain, where they are interested in signing Sevilla’s Lucien Agoumé.
The pursuit of the French midfielder comes despite the club already securing signings for Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha, and Benjamin Sesko.
For weeks, United has been trying to sign Carlos Baleba from Brighton but have made little progress. With the transfer window closing soon, the club is set to move quickly to secure Agoumé instead.
Agoumé, who appeared 37 times for Sevilla last season, registered one goal and three assists. His statistics from La Liga show a moderate 79% pass success rate, along with 41 interceptions, 30 blocks, and 70 tackles.
At €40.5 million, Agoumé represents a more affordable option compared to Baleba, who Brighton values at €100 million.
However, signing Agoumé could be complicated as his contract runs until 2028. Despite this, Mundo Deportivo reports that Sevilla may be open to selling him due to the club’s financial situation.
