Real Betis to receive €500k as Jesús Rodríguez makes Spain debut

Real Betis is set to receive a significant windfall after their former winger, Jesús Rodríguez, made his official debut for Spain. The La Liga club will net €500,000, a fee triggered by a clause in Rodríguez’s transfer agreement with the Italian side, Como. This add-on was part of the initial deal, which was reportedly worth €22 million, not including these performance-based bonuses.

Rodríguez, a promising 19-year-old talent, made the move to Italy shortly after his senior debut with Betis last October. While Betis publicly expressed a desire to keep him, stating the player was the driving force behind the transfer, Rodríguez’s representatives have since denied those claims.

His call-up to the senior national team came after a solid run with Spain’s youth squads, where he earned nine caps and scored one goal across the U17 and U19 levels. Since joining Como, the young winger has made three appearances this season, contributing one assist. This debut for the Spanish national team not only marks a major milestone in his burgeoning career but also provides a substantial financial boost to his former club.
